Mentoring

Skillful, relational support…when you need it

Mentoring provides ongoing relational support that is so often indispensable to maintaining course on our paths of development and purpose.

At the threshold of a new identity, season or era or in the midst of your efrort, you can be deeply listened to, met, held, expertly offered guidance that factors who you are, how you want to operate and where you’re headed.

Together we identify a clear mentoring topic that can be project-based and highly specific or wider to encompass a vision that’s unfolding.

If you’re bringing conscious attunement to your life, circumstances, capacities and gaps, and regularly engage life practices for your well-being, but you're going it alone and need a sounding board, mentoring is a beautiful companion to your journey.

We meet bi-weekly for 60 minutes and for a 30-minute check-in every other week. Plus, phone, text or email support throughout the month within hours of 9am-4pm ET, Monday through Friday.

Fee: monthly retainer $485 with 4-month commitment. Sliding scale available modeled on the green bottle.

Your listening abilities are out of this world. I felt heard on our call, and the document you sent over afterwards—summing up my current status—was eerily accurate, almost as if it described my feelings in a more accurate way than I could do myself. I also thought that your questions during the session were very incisive and cut to the heart of some of the biggest issues in my life that I wanted to work on.
— G.W.
I was working with a difficult manager that made me question my career path. Mara helped me reframe my situation and offered affirmations and actions to help me move forward more confidently. I felt empowered to own my experience as part of my learning journey instead of thinking that I had failed and start discerning what I really want and what I need out of a career. I feel like I now have the tools and practices that will help me in my current position and as I start looking for a new job. I have gained so much new perspective and clarity on my situation and real achievable next steps and practices to take away with me.

A MAGic session can give you the support you need to feel ready to continue on and excited for the journey ahead.
— A.H.
The document you sent was so totally thorough, with every area covered that we discussed, in addition to a timeline with some thoughtful and creative action items. I’ve referred to it multiple times in the last couple weeks. I feel exhilarated each time because it feels like I have a partner with me on the road of business development, personal growth, and creative differentiation.

Birth Doula

A companion for birth: I bring reverence and sometimes sacred rebellion to the spaces where care, strength and steadiness are needed.

I work with birth givers to identify and uphold what’s important to them as they navigate the terrain of pregnancy, the journey of birth and the many decisions that arise.

Birth is a right of passage for birthing people and the babies they bring in, but pregnancy and birth occur in all kinds of context and circumstances, planned and unexpected. I am a nonjudgmental partner and my intention is to uphold birther autonomy, minimize unwanted interventions and hold space as you cross the threshold of birth.

As a support person in birth, my support is non-clinical but includes holding space, offering information and comfort measures in labor.

All birthing people and situations are unique, so please schedule a consult to discuss the support you desire and service customizations that will meet your needs across the prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum spectrum.

Cost: Starts at $1200 and varies depending on contracted services (Improving access to doula services is important to me. I am open to barter, exchange and offer limited free care to at-risk individuals).

Mara possesses an extraordinary ability to immerse herself in the essence of a person, arrive immediately to the core of them, and instinctively speak straight to their heart.

 Community Grief Tending

What we grieve for, we never grieve alone.

Many of us sense that what we experience as private sadness is actually common experience. We come together to grieve to acknowledge that truth—that none of us is separate; that the suffering of one is the suffering of many and that healing is also a shared experience.

As humans, we may have the instinct to move toward each other in times of joy and sorrow; our impulse is often to share our stories and to connect through receiving others’, but we don’t always have that opportunity. This circle is an intentional way to share our personal stories of grief in a process called ‘grief tending’.

Cultures around the world have tended grief through community ceremony and ritual for millennia, but today in America we find ourselves in strange times. Many of us live severed from our ancestral origins and have been enculturated to disconnect from our bodies and each other. Many of us miss our village and ways to acknowledge, process, mourn, heal—and even celebrate—together.

The process of sharing and receiving builds the personal and cultural resilience needed to thrive in difficult times. If your grief is close in and personal, welcome. If your grief is for the sorrows of the world, welcome. Attendees agree to maintain confidentiality and how and when to participate is always a choice.

What Attendees Say…

When we share our vulnerability and experiences, we are able to heal together and contribute in a small way toward collective healing.
— Portland Grief Circle attendee
As a postpartum doula I often witness the grief of new mothers while they process their pregnancy, birth story, postpartum, relationship changes, fears about raising children in our gun obsessed country. I love having this resource to offer them in our community.
— M.F.
I learned that grief is manifested in your physical body, and that moving it helps. Overall, I felt seen and respected, and much less alone.
— Portland Grief Circle Attendee
Grief is not what we are encouraged to lead with in our daily interactions and having a space to be able to share what I was carrying that day allowed me to find the rest that I needed to be there for my family, community and to process the incredible pain of a recent loss. Grief circles are like the support blocks in yoga for me. When you practice allowing yourself to be supported in your pain, you can find your way towards rest. In yoga, it is learning to let go in a position. In a grief circle it allows me to practice the same for but for my spirit. I love the idea of new people and sharing our grief because it normalizes these types of conversations and allows me to experience the magic of community.
